This is the first book that I have read by this author and it surely won’t be the last. This is a very cute fairytale about a flower wishing she had wings. Her dream was to fly and find her fortune. One night a faerie came passing by and offered to grant the flower her wish…but for a price.

This is a super cute story for anyone who loves a good fantasy. The book suggests ages 9-18 but I as an adult enjoyed this story just as much as a youngster would. I highly recommend this book to all ages and can’t wait to read more by this author. I give this book 5 stars all the way around.

Oh where to start with this one , This was the 1st time I have read anything from this author and I want to say how much I loved it . I wasn't sure what to think when I found out it was a fairy tale based story as I don't read many of these but I am extremely glad I did. The detail is amazing for a short story and most authors cant seem to find the balance that is needed to pull it off and not be a bore for a short book . My only complaint is that is was a short read. But Danyelle Lefty has a new fan in me . And I will be passing her name on to all I know . What I loved about the story is it inspires the story line of facing your fears, overcoming challenges. I really didn't want this to end and I cant wait for the series to "start "
I really enjoyed this short story. The characters (unnamed at the beginning) each had their own personalities, and Leafty deftly used those to weave the plot and keep things moving at a comfortable pace. The resolution was well done and left me interested in the further adventures of Kya and Hearthorne.
The imagery in this short story quite took my breath away. It is difficult to find an author capable of rendering me speechless after I finish something they've written, but this author managed to do just that. The language is thought provoking and original, and the subject matter is so delightfully intriguing I couldn't help but read the entire story with a silly grin plastered across my face. I'm reminded of J. K. Rowling when I consider the author's attention to detail and her ability to describe a scene so vividly. I am transported to the exact location where the events are taking place and my imagination runs wild with the many paths this journey could lead. I find I am never disappointed with the places J. K. Rowling takes me and Danyelle Leafty's beautifully written prequal has this very same effect. This is the first work of hers I've had the privilege of reading, and it certainly won't be the last. I plan to stalk this author's writing for the rest of my life. Bravo, I say!
Another brilliantly crafted piece by author Danyelle Leafty. This story takes all of the elements that make writing an art and skillfully weaves a story that makes you feel like you're coming home.
What happens when a flowers wishes she had wings to fly? This is a delightful tale of the power of wishes and dreams and the reality of making them come true. A nice read for any age!
Danyelle Leafty is a talented writer. Sentences like, "A touch of fear, anxiety, and excitement fluttered through Kya's gut and left her breathless as though she'd swallowed the sky on a dare." make reading Danyelle's books a read-aloud pleasure. The Curious Leaf is the first book in what I hope is a long series.
I absolutely loved this book!
If it is the start of a series, I can hardly WAIT for the rest.
The emotional resonance was deep and brilliant.
I want to know more about the adventures of Kya and Hearthorne.
If you have ever struggled with courage, or the idea of impossible dreams, read this story.
